The Nitty Gritty

Making music is super fun and rewarding! In order to let our hair hang loose during lessons we've got some basic rules of the road to keep things organized.

-Students may choose to study through weekly 30 minute, 45 minute, or 60 minute lessons. During our initial lesson we can discuss which model is best for your goals, schedule, and budget. I charge $40 per half-hour lesson, $60 per 45 minute lessons, and $80 per hour lesson, collecting payment for the entire month's lessons at the beginning of each month.

 - I have a 24-hour cancellation policy: lessons cancelled more than 24 hours before the given lesson can be rescheduled, lessons cancelled within 24 hours of the lesson will be charged but not rescheduled. The only exception to this is illness or family emergency. I schedule everything by email in order to ensure maximum clarity for all parties involved.

-I like to begin work with new students by scheduling a single lesson for us each to get to know each other. From there we can decide the frequency of lessons going forward.

-I am super excited to provide amazing quality instruction. While I may occasionally provide sheet music or other documents, students are ultimately responsible for purchasing their own sheet music.

-The break-up: Yes, someday we may no longer work with each other, but let's talk about it! Some of the best opportunities for me to learn as a teacher and for my students to learn are just when the going get rough. The monthly payment system is an incentive -- even if you haven't practiced and don't know the meaning of life -- to COME to your lesson anyway. Breakthroughs happen when we can be honest with each other. At the end of the day, we're only human -- If it turns out that we're really not a fit, I love to be supportive of my students and I'm happy to help them find a teacher who might be a better fit.

Sound good? Let's schedule a lesson!
